Reminder: Enter your Quilt

As CQA rep, I’d like to encourage members to consider entering work in the upcoming National Juried Show. My work is far from technically perfect, yet three of my quilts were juried into the modern category last year. I was very nervous to enter, but happy that I tried! I hope many of you will, too. It is thrilling to share work at a national level.

The deadline for the CQA-NJS is rapidly approaching! All entries must be submitted by 3:00 p.m. on February 1st. Entries are $30 per quilt for individual CQA members and $80 per quilt for non-members. You are also responsible for shipping costs to the show in Toronto.  All categories, prizes and instructions are here:http://njs.canadianquilter.com/index.html

Please don’t leave it until the last minute as the application process requires some time. Photography is crucial to the success of your entry. You must have a full, flat image of the quilt that accurately depicts colours and is in focus, plus one detailed image showing piecing/quilting or applique. If you are entering the bed quilt category, you must also submit a photo of your quilt on a bed. The photographs must be submitted in a certain size (full instructions available on the CQA website). You’ll also have to know the details pertaining to any pattern (name, book, magazine), workshop, instructor name or collaborators to properly credit any non-original work. Yes, CQA does now accept quilts made from patterns and workshops!
