Amica Quilt Show

Oct 07, 2015 (1:00 pm to 4:00pm)

We are preparing to do a mini quilt show at Amica—Assisted Living Retirement Community located at 659 Clyde Ave in West Vancouver. We have scheduled this event to take place on Wednesday, Oct 7th from 1 to 4 pm.

Amica has committed to covering all the costs to put this show on including providing coffee, tea, cookies and all the manpower we need. They will also provide a small honorarium of approx. $150.00 to our guild. We would like to apply this to community quilts.

This event will be open to both Amica residents and the community. Amica will advertise this event in the local newspaper, etc.

We have all the volunteers we need to move forward and now need your beautiful quilts. We are looking for around 60 quilts in total, small, medium and large.

Please keep in mind these quilts cannot be quilts you plan on entering in our quilt show in 2016.

Please feel free to send me a picture and dimensions of your quilts. More details will be provided closer to the event.

Log Cabin Show: Another Thank You

West Vancouver Library follow up: Last month we forgot to thank someone. Elaine Fjoser helped out at the West Vancouver Library tea as well. Thanks Elaine! Also congratulations to Debbie Barrett whose quilt sold at the show. There is still time to drop into the library and enjoy “Cabins to Quilts.” The show remains up until Monday, March 9, 2015.

Log Cabin Show

About 40 members of the LGQG plus other guild friends and family members, including Susan Germaine’s Girl Guide troupe, visited our show at the West Vancouver Memorial Library and enjoyed the tea reception on Sunday, January 18th.

Everyone was so excited to see the quilts hanging throughout the gallery space in the library main hall and downstairs hall. Many library patrons spoke to us about how lovely the quilts look. The log cabin theme was very well received; it was a great conversation starter as many non-quilters easily recognize this traditional block, while experienced quilters enjoyed seeing the various interpretations of the block.

logcabin1Congratulations to Myra Frampton whose quilt Log Cabin Reno was purchased by the library’s Director to hang in her office. Special thanks to Elizabeth, Paula and Pat for their generous donation of time and energy organizing the reception for us, as well as all of the guild members who volunteered to make treats (there will be plenty delicious leftovers at our January meeting break table!).

The show continues until Monday, March 9. Thank you to all of the guild members who offered their work for this great display.

West Vancouver Library Quilt Show Reception

Thanks to everyone who has contacted us with the dimensions of their log cabin quilts for the West Vancouver Library show in the new year. We could still use some wall-hanging sized quilts (45″ or less in both dimensions). If you have a long cabin quilt of any kind that is on the small size and would like the opportunity to show it and even possibly sell it, please contact either of us to register it for the show. All pertinent dates and info are in previous newsletters.

The library has offered us the use of their meeting room to hold an opening reception on the afternoon of Sunday, January 18th, 2015. We are looking for a volunteer to coordinate coffee/tea and baking for this event and are hopeful that you will want to attend and invite friends and family as well!
