We’re in countdown mode, just 2 1/3 months to our show!
Last chance for registration – the March meeting is your final chance to register a quilt for the 2016 show. Photos are available at the meeting for a small fee. Rules and regulations and the registration form can be found on the guild website. I expect the registration team will be busy at this meeting so please bring your patience along with your forms.
When asked if she had registered a quilt for the show, a member recently responded “oh I don’t make anything good enough to be in a show”. Please, if that is your belief let me say that nothing could be farther from the truth. Our show is a showcase for the work of ALL of our members. While we do hope that you will enter your very best work, it is just that YOUR very best work and is something to be proud of. You never know who might be inspired to give quilting a try when they view your quilt so please don’t hide your light under a bushel bring it out and show it off!
Have you renewed your membership? – the deadline for renewal is March 31st. In quilt show years there is an increase of $20 in the membership fee. This goes directly to funding the quilt show giving us the funds to get started. For your $20 you receive 4 – $7 tickets, a saving of $8. Give them to friends, family, co-workers etc. If you volunteer at the show you do not need a ticket. If you don’t then you will need one of your tickets for entry.
Have you completed your volunteer forms? – last chance before Vicky starts calling. Remember there are really great volunteer prizes. For every two hour shift you complete one entry goes in the draw.
Boutique items – I hope you are busy creating for our boutique – when you aren’t working on your show quilts that is!
Challenge Quilt – I’ve been hearing lots of chatter about these little quilts and can’t wait to see what you have created!
New instructions for hanging sleeves – If your quilt is larger than 48” wide you need to add a 4” sleeve. If your quilt is 48” or less please use a 2” sleeve.
Notes: Dowels will be available on a first come first served basis at the April meeting. We will also be available at that meeting only to assist with cutting dowels to length and adding the screw eyes.
More information on attaching the dowel to your quilt will be included in the April newsletter and repeated in the May newsletter.
Keep working on those beautiful quilts!
