Hello fellow guild members. As Bena, our president, enjoys her vacation in France, I’ve been delegated to write your monthly welcome. My theme, in keeping with the season, is thank-you.
Fall is well and truly upon us and that glorious summer is now only a fond memory. We had an eventful October starting off with a well-received September program where we all learned some new and useful tips. We have a wealth of teaching talent within our guild! Thank you! And the Amica quilt display was a great success under the direction of Leslie Rutledge. Thank you to her group of hardworking volunteers!
As we get back to the sewing machines in earnest, it’s also time to plan for the year ahead. Our guild executive elections are just around the corner and I invite all guild members to consider running for the upcoming positions: vice president, treasurer, newsletter editor, librarian, member at large, membership coordinator and program coordinator. We have a large group of members that take on multiple volunteer roles within the guild and I expressly invite new people to step forward to participate in the running of the guild and it’s programs. We are also recruiting for a new Quilt Show Coordinator and Diane Ritter, as outgoing coordinator, has graciously offered to mentor a new Coordinator and smooth the transition. Thank you!
At this time, I would also like to thank outgoing CQA rep, Dorothy Porter, and welcome Krista Hennebury into the role.
We welcome Dianne Stephenson as our speaker this month. A number of the guild members took her “Canadiana in Cloth” workshop for 8 months last year and her new presentation is titled “Feedsacks to Fancy Things”. I hope to see some of those finished quilts at our show and tell this month. See you at the meeting on the 27th.
