Quilt Show Wrap-Up

Another show has come and gone. The quilts are down, the vendors have gone home, and I am happy to report that once again we hosted a stellar event. We had so many wonderful compliments on the quality of the show. The way it was organized, the beautiful quilts, the way they were displayed, the wonderful boutique, the delicious food, the warm and friendly attitude of our volunteers and the fabulous merchant mall (although there was a lot of whining about empty pocketbooks on that last one!)

People kept telling me what a wonderful job I had done but in fact it was my team who did a wonderful job. All of them worked tirelessly to ensure that every job was done, every detail taken care of and they did it with enthusiasm and good humour. I cannot thank them enough for their participation and their support of our guild.

We could not put this show on without the volunteers that show up for their shifts every day ready and willing to greet the public and represent our guild. A big thank you goes out from our committee to all of the members who volunteered at the show.

Of course the other hugely important contribution was the quilts that you so lovingly made. The viewing public were in awe of the artistry and skill on display in the gallery.

A list of Viewers Choice Ribbon and Quilt Show Committee Ribbon winners is included in this newsletter and by now should be posted on our website along with a smilebox of all the quilts that were hung in the show.

From a financial perspective we did not make as much money as we did in 2010 but according to my treasurer Rebecca we have a profit of approximately $1500 so we have a bit of starting capital for the next show. A full financial report will be forwarded to Betty before the end of the month and the books will be closed on another Album of Quilts.

Thank you again for your participation.

Quilt Show Committee Ribbon Winners

A word about Quilt Show Committee Ribbons: When our committee first gathered Krista put forth the idea that we could each make a ribbon for an aspect of quilting that was for one reason or another special to us and award that ribbon to the quilt in the show that, in our opinion, best represented our ribbon. We hope that the winners enjoy having the ribbons as much as we enjoyed creating them and choosing which quilt to award them to.

SIGN FRAMES If you have a metal frame for our lawn signs hiding in your house/garage/basement please bring it to the JUNE meeting. The number we had available this year was much smaller than it needed to be so before we have to order 500 more (minimum order) we would like to know how many we really have!

GLOVES Our stock of gloves is much smaller post show than it was pre show. If you found a glove in your pocket when you got home please return it at the JUNE meeting.

RIBBON WINNERS Please bring your quilts to the JUNE meeting. This is for ALL ribbon winners – Viewers Choice, Committee Ribbons and Challenge Ribbons.

Thanks!
