Thank you to the record-setting 27 members who supported our show boutique with their beautiful handmade items! Visitors to the show were very impressed with the workmanship, variety and prices of our merchandise. Once all of our stock was displayed on the tables and quilts hung on the drapes around the boutique it was an impressive sight on Friday morning. Sales were brisk and the boutique was visibly depleted for Saturday, however sales of three quilts out of the show boosted our total sales. It seems that having the Square reader for credit card sales was the key to success, with 61% of sales using credit cards. Total sales were over $7000, a definite record for our shows, especially considering that we missed having Carolyn dePasquale’s beautiful silver jewelry and ceramics this year, which were always hot sellers.
The call for baby quilts was answered and I think about 12 of them sold. It appears that $50-$60 is the upper threshold for baby quilt prices, as ones more expensive than that generally didn’t move. Boutique items priced less than $20 were moving best, but up to $30 seemed reasonable for customers.
As always, pin cushions are a big seller, needlebooks, cotton dishcloths, tea towels, Pat and Penny’s doggie paw-towels and baby knits also sold well.
Thanks to everyone who worked to make the boutique a great success from making items, to set up and take down, and to Paula who volunteered two full days with me at the cash desk!
