Want to have your quilt top quilted, but don’t have the time, large enough space on your domestic machine nor the skill to do it? Try a longarm quilting service.
The longarm quilting service providers will let you know how to prepare your quilt top, batting and backing for quilting. As those 3 elements are loaded separately onto the long arm machine DO NOT pin or spray baste them together. And make sure you have enough excess backing and batting to accommodate the quilting to be done.
Some longarmers will sell batting, trim the edges, and do the binding for you. Contact individual longarmers for information and pricing.
Edge-to-edge quilting entails a single design that covers the entire quilt top. Custom quilting is customized quilting for each quilt block or pieced shape on a quilt top. This technique has the potential for much more technical and creative designs than edge-to-edge quilting. It can be done by machine or by hand. It is also more expensive than edge-to-edge quilting.
These have been recommended by LGQG members.
